Sustainable Design
We have an established method of working with clients which allows us to carefully select opportunities that have a positive impact on our planet.
Every project includes a simple, accessible sustainable design strategy, to align your business and stakeholders. Not only will we look at ways of reducing your environmental impact, but we’ll strategise the commercial opportunities to make sustainable choices profitable for your business.
We offer free consultations for eco-friendly projects to help bring your environmental vision to life.
Dedicated to positive change, we also offer pro-bono design services for eligible non-profits and purpose-driven initiatives.

Our sustainable design work is built on four foundational principles for sustainable design:
Material innovation and Selection
Design products with modular components, snap-fits, and standard screws instead of glues and adhesives. This makes repair, upgrading, and component harvesting straightforward.
Circular Economy and Dissassembly
Replace virgin plastics and toxic composites with biodegradable materials, recycled polymers, or rapidly renewable material resources. Build the product lifecycle around recycling end-of-life materials.
Dematerialisation
Digital prototyping, part optimization, and mono material design intent means fewer physical materials, while maintaining structural integrity and user performance.
Energy and lifecycle Efficiency
Optimize product UX for low power consumption during use, minimalist packaging that doubles as shipping containers, and lower-carbon manufacturing and end-of-life recycling.
Case Study
Fairphone 3
Modular Architecture for repairability
The phone is built with seven distinct, easily accessible, and replaceable internal modules rather than being sealed shut with glue.
User-Replaceable Battery
The back cover comes off effortlessly without tools, allowing users to swap out the battery or individual parts (like the screen, speaker, or cameras) in minutes.
Sustainable materials
The design incorporates 50% recycled polycarbonate housings, conflict-free tin and tungsten, recycled copper and plastics, and Fairtrade gold
